Case Study: Lift Assist to Load Spiral Corrugated Ducts onto an Ovalizer Machine
Application: Grip and shape 250 lb. spiral corrugated ducts to allow for easy loading onto an Ovalizer machine.
Problem: A Major Mid-West specialty metal manufacturer required an operator to use a forklift to pre-bend corrugated ducts and load them onto an ovalizer machine. The large and unwieldly ducts were often damaged due to the forklift bending and lifting process.
Solution: The customer needed a safe solution to load their machine. A Gorbel workstation crane with our custom Pneumatic Gripper, Coffing variable frequency hoist and a Magnetek handheld radio control were provided. Utilizing the momentary control of the lifting tool allows the operator to bend the ducts into the ideal loading shape.
Result: Our team of installers setup, configured, and installed the bending tool; solving the operators problematic material handling issue. The custom lifting tool drastically decreased the time it took to load the ducts onto the ovalizer machine.
